Community
Workshops, events, and a vibrant maker community at Georgia Tech.
The Hive Community
The Hive is more than a makerspace — it’s a community of makers, engineers, artists, and innovators. We host events throughout the semester designed to bring people together around shared interests and collaborative projects.
Workshops & Skill Sessions
We run regular hands-on workshops open to all GT community members. Workshops are free and cover topics like:
- Intro to 3D Printing — learn FDM basics, slicing software, and design for print
- Laser Cutting Fundamentals — from vector files to finished parts in one session
- PCB Design & Soldering — design your first printed circuit board
- Vinyl Cutting & HTV — make stickers, decals, and custom apparel
- E-Textiles — combine fabric with electronics for wearable projects
Workshop schedules are published each semester and RSVPs go out via the weekly newsletter — subscribe here
Student Organizations
Many GT student organizations partner with the Hive for fabrication space and resources. If your club or team needs a place to build, reach out to us about collaboration.
Become a Peer Instructor (PI)
Are you interested in being part of the team that keeps The Hive running? Become a PI (Peer Instructor) — a student volunteer who staffs the space, helps other makers, and builds expertise across our equipment areas.
