The Interdisciplinary Design Commons, better known as The Hive Makerspace, is here to provide the Georgia Tech community with accessible engineering space and resources to bring ideas to life in a non-traditional classroom setting.
Our space is open to all members of Georgia Tech regardless of major, year, or experience. Whether you're a first-year with a project idea or a PhD student building research hardware, we have the tools and the community to support you.

What Can You Make?
From digital fabrication to hands-on crafts, the Hive has the tools to bring any idea to life.
3D Printing
FDM and resin printers for rapid prototyping, models, and mechanical parts.
ExploreLaser Cutting
Two CO₂ laser cutters (32"×18" bed) plus a Fablight 4500 fiber laser for cutting metals.
ExploreElectronics Benchtop
24 individual benchtops with soldering, oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, and more.
ExplorePCB Fabrication
In-house PCB milling and laser etching with LPKF tools.
ExploreCrafts Area
Silhouette Cameo vinyl cutters, dye sublimation, sewing, and a button press.
ExploreMachine Shop
Miter saw, drill press, band saw, scroll saw, belt sanders, and a sandblasting booth.
